Data engineering and BI, built by someone who has shipped it for a decade
From raw source data to dashboards your leaders trust — and the automation and AI layered on top.
I'm a data engineer and BI developer with 10+ years across the modern data stack — Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, PySpark, Power BI, and Tableau. KamElla brings that depth to small and mid-sized teams that need enterprise-grade data work without an enterprise-sized team. Here's how I help.
Power BI & BI reporting
Reporting is where your data finally earns its keep, so I build it end to end — not just a pretty dashboard, but the semantic model and DAX measures underneath that keep it accurate when someone asks a question you didn't anticipate. I handle row-level security, deployment pipelines, and a governed Power BI Service workspace your team can actually maintain. When Tableau is already in place or the better fit, I work there too. The result is reporting leaders trust at a glance, backed by a model that won't crack under real-world use.
Data engineering & pipelines
Good reporting starts with data you can rely on, so this is where most engagements really begin. I design and build the pipelines that move data from source to insight on whichever platform fits your stack. On Microsoft Fabric I build Lakehouses with a Medallion (bronze / silver / gold) architecture and DirectLake models that skip the import step entirely. On Snowflake and Databricks I build ELT pipelines and PySpark transformations that scale with your volume — paired with the orchestration, testing, and documentation that keep them dependable months after launch.
Automation & integration
The most expensive part of most reporting is the manual work around it — the exports, the copy-paste, the "did the refresh run?" messages. I automate that. Using Power Automate, REST APIs, and the Microsoft Graph, I wire your systems together so refreshes, alerts, approvals, and hand-offs run on their own. That includes monitoring your Power BI environment through the admin and activity APIs, so a failed refresh reaches you before it reaches your stakeholders.
AI & Copilot integration
AI is most useful when it sits on top of data that's already clean and governed — which is exactly what the rest of this work sets up. I integrate Copilot and custom AI agents into your existing stack so your team can ask questions in plain language and get answers grounded in your own numbers. That ranges from enabling Copilot in Power BI, to building Copilot Studio agents and natural-language-to-SQL interfaces backed by Azure OpenAI, to standing up an early-mover Power BI MCP server so AI tools can query your semantic models directly.
